Ghanaian Armed Robber Sentenced to 120 Years in Prison Plus Life Imprisonment
Dominic Afriyie, alias “GH”, receives one of the harshest robbery sentences in Ghana’s history after killing a contractor in Atasemanso during a 2021 home invasion.

Justice has finally caught up with Dominic Afriyie, also known as “GH”, who has been handed a staggering 120 years imprisonment with hard labour and an additional life sentence for a deadly robbery committed in 2021 at Atasemanso in the Ashanti Region.
The 36-year-old armed robber was found guilty of a violent home invasion that resulted in the tragic death of 43-year-old contractor and pharmacist, Michael Dela Agbo Klu.
During the robbery, Afriyie stole two mobile phones, a laptop, and GH¢1,500 in cash after fatally shooting the victim.
Although he pleaded not guilty, a seven-member jury found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, based on overwhelming evidence presented during the trial. The verdict was delivered on May 15, 2025, by His Lordship Abdul Razak.
Afriyie was initially arrested along with three others during a police night patrol in December 2021, during which weapons were recovered. However, further investigations confirmed that he acted alone in the Atasemanso robbery.
Following the sentencing, DSP Godwin Ahianyo praised the outcome, stating:
“This conviction underscores our commitment to bringing violent criminals to justice.”
Afriyie’s case now stands as one of the harshest punishments ever handed down for armed robbery in Ghana, sending a strong message to others involved in violent crime.
