GH Kobby Remanded Over Yaa Baby’s Death; Obolo and One Accomplice Freed

Popular Ghanaian Snapchat influencer GH Kobby, known in real life as Hayford Boateng, has been remanded once again into police custody by the Yeji Magistrate Court in connection with the tragic death of fellow influencer Philipa Frimpong, widely known as Yaa Baby.
GH Kobby was arrested alongside two others — Kojo Diamond, also known as Obolo, and Michael Kabutey — following an incident on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Yeji, located in the Bono East Region. According to police reports, Yaa Baby was accidentally shot in the arm with a pump-action shotgun allegedly discharged by GH Kobby during their visit. The injury ultimately led to her death.
The trio first appeared in court on June 16, where all three were remanded into custody to assist with further investigations.
On Tuesday, June 24, the court resumed proceedings. While the judge ordered GH Kobby to remain in custody until July 10, 2025, pending deeper investigations, his plea was not taken during the session. Meanwhile, the two other accused individuals — Obolo and Michael Kabutey — were officially discharged from the case.
The case has stirred strong reactions on social media, with many calling for justice for the late Yaa Baby, who was a rising star in Ghana’s online influencer space.
